Asha Bardon, MA (They/them)

Stories don’t exist in isolation.

Behind every game, film and novel lies history,

religion, folklore and culture.

That’s what I explore…

Asha Bardon is an author, journalist and academic specialising in video games, Japanese culture and religion and mythology.

Their work has appeared in hundreds of publications including The Guardian, the Radio Times, Retro Gamer, MacFormat, ImagineFX, Eurogamer, CBR.com, AOL.com and many others.

Alongside journalism, Asha has spent years adapting and editing manga for Seven Seas Entertainment, helping bring Japanese stories to English-speaking readers while preserving their voice and cultural nuance.

Asha is currently working on two commissioned non-fiction book projects.

Asha has two Master of Arts degrees, in Classics from the Open University and in Interdisciplinary Japanese Studies (with Merit) from the University of East Anglia. They also hold a 2:1 BA (Hons.) degree in Theology and Religious Studies from the University of Surrey, but attended St. Mary’s College in Twickenham.

Asha lives in a small market town with their cats: the Mighty D, the Grey Destroyer (of pigeons, mostly) and the Ninth House Kittens (Gideon and Harrowhark).
